HDTV Closed Caption Server
The EN520 is a full featured HD closed caption server solution intended for direct connection to ATSC encoding equipment in environments where HD-SDI VANC encoding of EIA 708B captioning is not used. Applications include compressed network uplink facilities and live broadcast captioning from local or dial-up captioning sources.
The EN520 can be used to provide EIA708B captioning in SD/HD simulcast environments through live upconversion of EIA608B SD captions. Analog and SDI video inputs are provided as sources for caption upconversion. EEG's universally supported Smart Encoder command protocol provides compatibility with all commercially available and legacy real-time and off-line captioning software as well as support for native mode EIA 708B captions. The EN520 connects seamlessly with all available ATSC Encoders supporting SMPTE 333M or Grand Alliance captioning interface protocols.

- Direct connection to ATSC encoder serial captioning input ports supporting SMPTE 333M and Grand Alliance serial protocols
- Upconverted SD data or live captions are automatically selected and routed to the ATSC encoder
- Auto-switching video input circuitry senses presence of SDI input
