TVThe EEG SM101 displays the CGMS-A and Content Advisory (formerly Program Rating) packet information encoded in the Line 21, Field 2 Extended Data Services (XDS) data channel. This monitor provides continuous verification of the CGMS-A and V-Chip Blocking codes inserted by the EEG XDS Xpress system. The Monitor Video outputs contain an On Screen Display (OSD) of XDS data. The SM101 displays key Current Class and Channel Class packets if they are being transmitted. The front panel LEDs show Video present and Content Advisory data present.

The monitor display shows the rating in large letters to emphasize the Content Advisory packet contents for rapid identification. "INVALID RATING" is displayed when there is no Content Advisory packet being sent or if the recovered packet contains an invalid rating. If any of the other displayed XDS packets do not exist, those items will not be displayed.
