Post Production Encoding of Closed Captions

CCPost™ combines EEG’s new CCRecord™ system with the popular CCPlay™ function, forming an extremely comprehensive suite for encoding and recovering Closed Caption data in a post production environment.

Bundled with the HD485 in a specially-priced package, CCPost provides post houses with all the features they need for the most advanced closed captioning workflow yet.

With the newly introduced CCRecord, there is a powerful new solution for improving post houses’ closed captioning workflow. The CCPost system offers a flexible workaround for complications stemming from the inability of non-linear editing packages, like Avid and Final Cut, to pass captions through from ingest to output. Previously, if a captioned video needed to be re-imported for another edit, however minor, the caption data would be gone when the material was re-exported.

The solution is CCPost, where the CCRecord and CCPlay features are working in tandem to move closed captioning from input to output around the NLE, while ensuring that any captions for time segments that have been edited out are removed from the final layback. CCPost users first run their tape through CCRecord to save all captions to a file, then perform their video editing as before, and then re-encode the caption data with CCPlay. Captions corresponding to video segments that are removed in the edit process will disappear smoothly, saving the significant expense of sending the edited tape back out for re-captioning.

In addition, CC Record can also create SCC format files based on previously captioned material being used for Video-On-Demand applications. Live on-air video, or an archived tape, can be passed through CCRecord to create an SCC file that will accompany the MPEG-compressed video clip for delivery to VOD clients.
 
EEG’s HD485 with CCPost is a complete solution for encoding closed captions in the video post production environment. The system combines the industry standard Smart Encoder product family with CCRecord and CCPlay, the industry-leading Windows™ based application for closed caption encoding.  

With CCPlay, post houses have an accurate and reliable data delivery system capable of encoding CC1, CC2 and CC3 closed caption data. CCPlay accepts closed caption files in any vendor format, and encodes the timecode-synced data to the HD485’s on-board video encoder.

CCPlay and CCRecord share an intuitive Windows GUI for maximum operator efficiency.
