XDS XPressTM Multiple Event Control of V-Chip and XDS Data
The EEG XDS XPressTM software package is a comprehensive suite for creating and encoding XDS Current Class and Channel Class packets on Line 21 in cable and broadcast installations.
XDS XPressTM consists of two applications, the Program Database Editor and the Encoder Controller. The two programs can reside on one PC or on separate machines linked through a network. The Program Database Editor allows the user to edit and save the XDS Program Database. The Encoder Controller program provides the link between the XDS Program Database and the Line 21 Data Encoder. The following EIA-744-A Current Class and Channel Class data types are supported: Program ID; Length/Time in Show; Program Name; Program Type; Program Rating; Program Description Rows 1 through 4; Network Name; Call Letters (Station ID).
XDS XPressTM references plant time code for acurate transmission of program data. Program events are identified by start time and date. Events remain active until their scheduled duration has expired or a new event is encountered. Special functions include Override and Hold. Override provides four buttons for pre-defined special events or alerts such as breaking news or weather bulletins.
Hold allows the operator to postpone the end of the program in case of time overrun. The operator has the option of resuming the program in-process or shifting the next and subsequent program start times.
